The portrait

January 12th, 2009 | Portraits

SO if you have read the “about me” section of this blog, you will remember that I talk about trying all types of photography and gave it a run this weekend when I photographed my 88 year old grandfather. This is a classic type of photography and there are subtle challenges to making a good portrait. Lighting, pose, activity, b+w vs color, depth of field, etc…and a multitude of post processing issues.

This was my go, and over all I am pleased with the result.

Thank you dear sir for your kind words… this was a rewarding project for me in many ways as a person this old makes you think of how much and how little time we have… I was happy to preserve an image of someone that has endured.

What an amazing shot of our grandfather. As I was not able to be there to spend time with him and have not seen him in years, this picture brought tears to my eyes. thank you :)
