About Wil

Welcome to my website. This is a personal endeavor of mine to share my photography and images with like minded individuals. I have been actively trying to improve my skills across all the staples of photography to include shooting, composition, and post processing. I am also trying not to limit myself to any one genre. I might try portraiture, real estate, HDR, landscape, macro, micro, snap shot, surreal, compositing… whatever presents itself next. I just enjoy the challenge of finding the way to a beautiful end product.

As for my art. It is just that. I know that there is much controversy among pro’s, amateurs, and everyone in between about what “real” photography is. Some believe that photo journalism is the pure way- with no manipulation of the photo other than a crop, while others believe that real photography is only the summation of composition and light- all other manipulations are just “novelties”. Some will only nudge a slider in photoshop while others will max out every slider. Just to let everybody know…I will be all over the place. In the end i guess i just want something that is visually interesting.

Since this is “about Wil”, one thing that I must comment about is the support that my wife gives me in my hobby. She has been more than patient through so many things. She has “unexpectedly” waited for literally hours while I waited for the “perfect light”. She has kept track of more lens caps, held more lenses, and as I ran to the next shot picked up the tripod more times than any human deserves. She has never said no to a B&H photo purchase and probably the biggest thing is that she didn’t say anything when I turned our Honeymoon into a photo trip with a wedding attached. I know plenty of women who limit their partner’s indulgences and she has never set a limit to mine (photographically that is) and so I wanted to take a moment to say that because of everything I mentioned above- “I am in CRAZY love with her!”

This shot here at the end was me just playing with my camera/tripod setup in my office and I spun the camera around and fired off a shot. I hadn’t seen my wife in the background when i shot the photo, but after I pulled the image from the CF card, I realized that no matter where I go in life, that while I am running around with my eye in a viewfinder that i have a wonderful smiling woman somewhere who makes my hobby possible.
